I like the concept of showing emotions associated with color. Each page could represent a different emotion, using colors, abstract imagery, and compositions. For my front cover I want to show the colors as paints but animated with faces of emotions on them. And for my back cover I was to create a duplicate of this imagery, yet in black and white, symbolizing the color being left in the zine but the emotions still present. Some potential emotions and how I would represent them are:
1. Red - Passion/Anger
Imagery: A fiery landscape, close-ups of sharp objects (like broken glass or jagged rocks), volcanoes erupting, aggressive animals (e.g., wolves, tigers), or intense facial expressions, hot peppers. You could include hints of intense movement like fire and abstract red bursts.
2. Orange - Energy/Excitement
Imagery: Collage images of people in motion—dancing, running, or jumping. Sunrises, bright lights, busy city scenes, sports, and abstract shapes like spirals or bursts of light could evoke the vibrancy of this emotion.
3. Yellow - Happiness/Optimism
Imagery: Sunflowers, sunshine, smiles, children playing, and nature (fields of flowers). Collage bright, glowing elements, like light rays or sparkles, to create a warm, sunny atmosphere.
4. Green - Growth/Envy
Imagery: Forests, leaves growing, vines entangling buildings, or people reaching for something just out of grasp. You can mix in abstract shapes that show expansion, but also some jagged, sharp lines to hint at envy.
5. Blue - Sadness/Calm
Imagery: A rainy day, the ocean, people alone or staring out of windows. Add imagery of water droplets, empty streets, and waves gently crashing, giving a sense of calm but also isolation.
6. Light Blue - Peace/Tranquility
Imagery: Clear skies, still lakes, soft clouds, and quiet spaces like empty rooms or peaceful landscapes. Add smooth, flowing shapes or bubbles to create a serene, tranquil vibe.
7. Purple - Creativity/Mystery
Imagery: Celestial objects (planets, stars, galaxies), abstract geometric shapes, art materials (paint splatters, brushes), and strange, dreamlike landscapes. Include elements like shadows, glowing orbs, and layers of fog.
8. Pink - Love/Tenderness
Imagery: Soft roses, hearts, people hugging or holding hands, warm sunsets, and fluffy clouds. Create a soft, dreamlike atmosphere with smooth gradients and blurred shapes, symbolizing gentleness.
9. White - Purity/Peace
Imagery: Doves, snow, white flowers, people meditating, clean architecture (white buildings), or blank spaces. Use negative space heavily with simple, clean imagery to evoke calm and clarity.
10. Black - Fear/Power
Imagery: Dark forests, shadowy figures, city streets at night, and harsh lighting creating strong contrasts. Combine silhouettes, sharp lines, and dark, intense textures to convey fear and authority.
11. Gray - Boredom/Neutrality
Imagery: Empty, colorless streets, overcast skies, repetitive patterns, people looking bored, or mechanical objects. Use dull, muted tones and images of repetition to symbolize monotony and emotional flatness.
12. Brown - Stability/Nostalgia
Imagery: Trees, wood textures, old books, vintage photographs, and earthy landscapes. Use warm, natural imagery like wooden floors, mountains, or a quiet countryside to suggest groundedness and reflection on the past.
